Are Amazon Return Pallets Worth It in the UK?

Amazon return pallets can be worth it, but rarely for a beginner on a small budget. The real ones are sold at auction to registered businesses, delivered by lorry, and paid for by bank transfer. The cheap "Amazon pallets" in Facebook and TikTok ads are almost always scams.

This guide is for UK resellers on Whatnot, eBay, Vinted and TikTok Shop who keep seeing pallet videos and want the honest picture before spending money.

What are Amazon return pallets?

They are stacks of stock Amazon no longer wants to sell itself, wrapped on a pallet and sold off in bulk. They come in two kinds.

  • Customer returns: items shoppers sent back, or that were damaged in Amazon's warehouses. Some are brand new, some are used, some are broken or missing parts.
  • Overstock: new items Amazon has too many of. These sell for more, because the condition is better.

Two words you will see on every listing:

  • Manifested: the pallet comes with a list of what's on it. You can check the items and their retail prices before you bid.
  • Unmanifested ("mystery"): no list. You are gambling on what turns up.

The retail value on a listing is what the items sold for new on Amazon. It is not what you will sell them for.

How do you buy Amazon return pallets in the UK?

There are two real routes: Amazon's own auctions, or a UK liquidation company that buys pallets and sells them on.

Route 1: Amazon Liquidation Auctions (run by B-Stock)

This is Amazon's official channel. The rules, from the Amazon Liquidation Auctions FAQ:

WhatThe rule
Who can buyBusinesses only. You must upload a valid reseller certificate to be approved.
UK buyersSince November 2020, UK auctions are only open to UK-registered buyers.
How it's soldAuction only. Bids are binding and go up in £25 steps.
PaymentBank transfer only, within 2 working days. No cards or PayPal.
DeliveryYou pay for it. No home addresses. You need a loading bay or a forklift.
What you can seeStock photos and a manifest. You cannot inspect the goods first.

In short, it is built for warehouses, not for someone selling from a spare room.

Route 2: UK liquidation companies

These firms buy pallets in bulk and sell them on, often one pallet at a time, and some do half pallets, boxes or collection. This is how most small UK resellers buy. Prices, grading and honesty vary a lot from one company to the next, so check each one before paying (see the scam section below).

You can browse UK pallet and returns suppliers, with their Companies House details, in our free Pallets, Job Lots & Mixed Stock directory.

Are Amazon return pallets worth it?

Only if you can sell most of the pallet, fast, for more than it really cost you. The pallet price is just the start. Before you buy, add up:

  1. The pallet price, plus VAT if it is charged.
  2. Delivery. A pallet goes by courier or lorry, and it is often a big part of the cost.
  3. The duds. Returns pallets nearly always include broken, used or incomplete items you cannot sell as new.
  4. Your time. Sorting, testing, cleaning, photographing and listing every item.
  5. Selling fees on Whatnot, eBay or Vinted, and postage.
  6. Storage. A pallet takes up a lot of room for a long time.

Then ask: at what I can actually sell these for, not the Amazon retail price, do I still make money?

Pallets tend to suit you if you have space, a budget you can afford to lose, a way to test electricals, and several places to sell.

They tend not to suit you if you are just starting, selling only on Whatnot, or buying with money you need back next month. In that case, smaller bundles are usually the safer way in.

Are Amazon pallets legit? How to spot a scam

Real pallets exist, but the cheap ones in social media ads are not real. Amazon does not sell return pallets to the public through Facebook, TikTok or Instagram ads (MalwareTips). In 2023, Full Fact checked viral posts offering "Amazon" pallets of unclaimed DHL parcels for £2. Amazon and DHL both said they were fake.

Walk away if you see:

  • A "pallet" or "mystery box" full of iPhones or PS5s for under £60.
  • Countdown timers, "warehouse closing" or "last chance" pressure.
  • A website that looks like Amazon but with an odd address (words like "pallet", "clearance" or "box" added).
  • No company number, no real address, or only a free email address.
  • A request to pay by bank transfer to a new seller, or to pay a fee to "reserve" or "release" stock.

Before you pay any pallet seller:

  1. Look up their company on Companies House. Check how long they've traded.
  2. Ask for photos or a video of the actual pallet, not stock photos.
  3. Pay by card or PayPal Goods & Services, so you have buyer protection.
  4. Ask in the Whatnot UK Sellers group whether anyone has bought from them.

A smaller, safer way to start

If a whole pallet is too much, buy in bundles instead. You spend less, you see what you're getting, and you can test what sells before you scale up.

  • Take The Lot: small bundles and one-off job lots posted by UK resellers, often with photos and collection options. Browse lots.
  • Free supplier directory: 200+ UK suppliers, including pallet and returns companies, each with Companies House details. Browse suppliers.
  • Vault Pro: type what you want, like "Amazon returns bundle under £100", and our AI searches live stock from UK suppliers and Take The Lot, refreshed every night. Try Vault Pro, £4.99 for your first month.
